It has long been a desire of Terpsicorps to become North Carolina'ssummertime dance company. Asheville is our homebase, but there is room forthe company to do what it does here, and share with the rest of the state aswell. The first such partnership is with Winston-Salem.

July 17-18 will mark the premiere appearance of Terpsicorps in its newsecond home. This is a homecoming in several ways. Many of the companymembers are alumni of the University of NC School of the Arts (UNCSA),located in Winston-Salem, and are thrilled to again perform for their formerfaculty. Artistic Director Heather Maloy, ballet master Tim Yeager anddancer Jennifer Cavanaugh are also former dancers with NC Dance Theatre(NCDT). NCDT was based in Winston-Salem for many years before moving toCharlotte. They rehearsed on the UNCSA campus and did much of their earlyperforming on the DeMille stage. Many of Terpsicorps' signature works wereoriginally created on the UNCSA campus when choreographer Salvatore Aiellowas artistic director of NCDT. Maloy's hometown is also Winston-Salem makingthis expansion even more special for her.

The Winston-Salem Arts Council has already shown its support of thecompany's expansion by allotting a generous grant in support of the show.

Thank you Winston-Salem! We are very excited to get to know you again!
